MIDDLE SCHOOL
There are two employment options with our Middle School Summer Program:
TEACHING ASSISTANT OPTION 1:
You can work the 3-Week Workshop Program
Sunday, June 14th, 2009 – Friday, July 3rd, 2009 7:30 AM – 12:30 PM
The PEOPLE Summer Workshop Program is a 3-Week morning program for Rising 7th-9th grade students to explore a subject area in depth through hands-on workshops. Students receive breakfast prior to attending workshops. There are approximately 25 workshops offered to the students with 2 T.A. positions per workshop.
TEACHING ASSISTANT OPTION 2:
You can work the 5-Week Workshop Program
Sunday, June 14th, 2009 – Saturday, July 18th, 2009 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM
The PEOPLE Summer Workshop and Transition Program is a 5-Week, full day program for Rising 9th graders that focuses on the transition from middle to high school that includes the 3 Week hands-on workshops, study skills, and provides a head start on 9th grade math and science classes. There are approximately 25 sections offered with 2 T.A. positions per section.
To be considered for employment, you must meet
the following requirements:
- Undergraduate students that have experience working with middle/high school students of diverse backgrounds.
- Students that will not be taking classes during the time(s) of our program.
- Students who will not be taking/needing time off for vacations, internships, appointments, etc. during the time of our program.
- Be able to attend MANDATORY TRAINING on June 6, 2009
Compensation: $10.00/hour

HIGH SCHOOL
High School Summer Program Dates:
High School Residential Training:
Thursday June 18 – Sunday, June 21, 2009
3-Week Program:
Sunday, June 21 – Saturday, July 11, 2009
6-Week Program:
Sunday, June 21 – Friday, July 31, 2009
Residential Counselor:
The Summer Pre-College Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) Program is looking for responsible, outgoing, and friendly individuals with experience and interest in working with students from diverse backgrounds as a dorm counselor during Summer 2009.
Job Required Qualifications:
- Counselors must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 at the time of hiring and must not be on academic or disciplinary probation. (Transcript requested)
- Must be available at All times for the duration of the program:
Possible Work Schedules
a) June 18-July 11th (3-week position)
b) June 18-July 31st (6-week position) - Have a strong working knowledge of campus resources.
Upon hiring, all counselors must commit themselves fully to the following job responsibilities:
- Counselors are required to attend All Training Sessions; move in day for counselors will be on June 18th, training will also begin on June 18th. Failure to attend training in full will result in immediate termination.
- Counselors are required to attend all daytime, evening and weekend activities, including Fine Arts, ACT Prep, workshops, etc. with the students.
- Counselors are required to wake the students on their respective floors, and escort them to their classes each morning.
- Counselors must eat meals with students on both weekdays and weekends.
- Counselors are required to conduct daily floor meetings and room checks at night to make sure the students are in their rooms. Each counselor must also hand in the necessary paper work and reports each night to confirm all of their students are safe in their rooms.
- Counselors are NOT allowed to have any other employment in the duration of working for the program, should employment be identified it will result in immediate termination. Classes taken during the program must be approved via the Program Coordinator PRIOR to being hired for employment with the PEOPLE Program.
- Due to the short duration of employment staff must request all time off or vacation needs in writing to determine if the request will be granted.
Compensation
* 3-week (Taxable Gross) salary of $1,500
* 6-week (Taxable Gross) salary of $3,000
* Single-room housing and University meal plan (throughout the duration of your designated appointment) will be provided
